We’ve all got our junk…

Happy weekend, everyone!  I’m glad to say that it’s actually been productive.

I was off to Kenosha this morning to watch a friend swim at Carthage College.  It was actually my first college meet.  I had to run out of the house without breakfast because I was running behind.  Thankfully, I had a Luna bar in my purse.  (I’ve started carrying them around just in case)

This was a new flavor for me – Chocolate Peppermint Stick.  My favorite is Dulce de Leche.  I haven’t been able to find them around here.  I wonder if they stopped making them?

Anyway, I was off to Kenosha.  It’s about 50 minutes away.  I actually love driving by myself.  It gives me an excuse to listen to my music really loud and sing along (which no one wants to hear).  My album of choice?  “Spring Awakening”.

I’ll admit it – I’ve been listening to this in my car non-stop ever since I saw the show.  I’ve had the album for two years, but didn’t really appreciate it until I saw the show.  I absolutely love it.  (Some would argue that I’m obsessed)  It was my first exposure to Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff (who will be playing Ms. Michele’s love interest in upcoming episodes of “Glee”!).  I love the musical because it has everything – sex, love, hate… I’m not going to go on because I don’t want to give it away.  And, most importantly, it has songs that you can sing at the time of your lungs (“Bitch of Livin'” and “Totally F—-d”).

Yes, I am that girl you see in the car singing – and occasionally dancing.  Don’t judge me.  🙂

In short – if you have the opportunity to see the show – DO IT.  🙂

I made it to the meet to see my friend’s first event.  After that, she was in the last event.  The mile.  I never did the mile – and probably never will.  It’s like a NASCAR race.  You kind of watch it in the beginning and the middle, and all of a sudden, there’s one 50 left and they’re neck and neck.  That’s exactly what happened today.  And, my friend beat the other girl at the end.  Very exciting!

I stopped at the grocery store on my way home (we’ve been out of milk for about two days) and got back around 2.  I ate lunch which consisted of leftover turkey tomato sauce (the recipe can be found here – I just added ground turkey with the onions).  I put it over some of Dreamfield’s low-carb spaghetti and added a dollop of low-fat ricotta.

It was delicious.  🙂

After lunch, it was time to work on some homework.  I had to put together my reflection journal from observation this semester (meaning = I had to write it because I was stupid and didn’t do it throughout the semester).  It was tough because my cooperating teacher is my professor.  So, I had to reflect on her teaching.  Not fun.  But, it’s done.

Dinner was leftovers.  Nothing exciting.  (Sorry)  The husband and I just kind of hung in tonight.  We watched a few Christmas movies. It’s been a nice night.

Tomorrow – let’s hope the productiveness continues.  In the afternoon, I’m supposed to head back to Kenosha for an event with a foreign exchange student from the swim team.  Let’s hope we can make it back before the snow starts!  (I am doing a little snow dance for Tuesday at around 3 o’clock – no class please!)  🙂

And, for a special treat tomorrow, I’ll be attempting the famous “Engagement Chicken”.  I figured there’s no pressure since I’m already married. 🙂  I’ll give you a full report tomorrow.

G’night!  Enjoy your weekend!
